JB Cookies - Qwest (BC)
Strain Review:
With cookie strains being all the rage of late, we thought it would make sense to see how the guys over at Qwest choose to interpret this classic cultivar. JB Cookies is a cross of two strong strains, mixing Girl Scout Cookies and Romulan together as one. In this case the result is dense, cookie-esque nugs that are completely covered with crystals and weighing in at 30.37% THC, we end up with one of our stronger cultivars for good reason. This high THC percentage combines with a mix of terpenes capable of filling a room with freshly baked aromas of creamy apple pie, citrus, and earth. All this when combined together bring you the freshly baked experience that is: JB Cookies.
Look
JB Cookies comes packaged in sleek black plastic, in the standard Qwest container combo of container containing a boveda inside a cardboard box. Upon opening we were greeted with about 6 medium sized nugs that were generally round, dense and covered in trichomes. The strain had a slight orange tinge to it and the trim job very tight overall. For 30.37% THC, we were very impressed by the conical shape of the nugs and the uniformity of calyxes.
Smell
With cookie and cake strains being all the rage these days, we were very impressed to see this cultivar provide a new twist on the classic flavour profile of the cookie strain by mixing a creamy apple pie crust with an earth freshness that reminds you of what was once a happy plant. In this sense the overall mix of nuts, apple, earth and gas made for what we found to be a more developed aroma profile than your average cookie strain & definitely the sort of thing you expect from producers like Qwest or Qwest Reserve.
Taste
We found JB cookies to have a good mouth feel and overall vibe that was far earthier and more subtle than we would have expected from the cookie-based strain. Where we expected silliness, we were met with sophistication and the flavours all balanced together in a symbiotic way that tasted sweet, earthy and strong, all at the same time.
Experience
While all this talk of strain crosses, mouth feel and terpenes may seem a bit much. The experience after consuming was very “for the people” with the 30.37% THC percentage being more than enough to keep things giggly, light and fun whilst being easily strong enough to cap off a long day. Easily one of our strongest strains, we found JB Cookies lands in the middle of the Indica/Sativa spectrum as a hybrid and we can see it suiting any variety of situations where strains above 30% THC are appropriate.
